I bought this in medium for my Cavalier King Charles dog after she had surgery. It was a great alternative to the plastic cone. It prevented her reach while also being comfortable and super cute. She’s 9 months old and about 12 pounds. I have no problem getting it over her head. It’s a little tight to take off, I have to put her ears through the pillow first then gently pull it off which is good because the real find here is that I now use it to keep her from getting through the fence slats in the backyard! I was using zip ties to attach a wooden spoon to her harness which was a pain to get on and off. This is sooo much better. I’ve been using it for that purpose for about 3 months now and just came back to buy a fresh one. It’s gotten pretty dirty from being worn outside but besides that has held up really really well! I could probably wash it but for 18.00 it’s worth it to just get a new one. Great product. This is a great alternative to a traditional recovery cone. It’s pretty much a pillow for them. I recommend this a lot and the medium size even if you have a kitten. The size might look big but I tried the small size for him and he was able to twist himself and reach part he should not be grooming ;) my 4 months kitten is about 6+lbs and he took this cone off a couple of times even though I had it as tight as possible without cutting circulation which is leaving the space of a finger between his neck and the cone. That’s what cats do! They are clever! So the solution was that I put his bell collar on as well in front of the pillow cone and that way “blocked” the pillow and now he was not able to take it off. Doing this also allows you to lose the cone a little more and everybody wins!!First off, I loved the fact that I was able to get this overnighted! My cat has an injury right under his chin area from either him scratching it, his brothers bunny kicking his chin, or his brothers biting his chin. (Total mystery to me). So I saw his wound area and tried one of these I got from petsmart, but he kicked that off pretty fast and it was kinda tight. I put some cat wound wash on it to clean it and helped it heal in combo with the orange slice.**Bonus he also enjoyed his naps a lot more with it on. He walked funny for a minute, but adjusted pretty well to it.**The product was /ok/. My Bella kept getting it off of her head though which was disappointing. I even tied the draw string in a knot after tightening it and she was still able to get it off. It kept her from licking and worked for the 2-2.5 days I made her use it, but if you need it for long term use and have a younger cat (Bella is under a year old), I would see if there is a similar product to this one that won't come off so easily.ALSO, if you have dogs that you let play with plush toys, PLEASE KEEP this product away from them and keep YOUR CAT away from them when it is on the cat's body! My 75lb pitbull immediately thought this was a toy while it was on Bella's neck and tried to bite it/play with it and rip it off of her neck.Yes, I kept them separated while Bella was healing from surgery, but my dog ran into the bedroom while I was putting this on her, and it about gave me a heart attack because I thought he was going to break Bella's neck. So be careful :)Our cat just had surgery, and she hated the plastic cone we received from the vet. I looked for an alternative and found this and I’m so happy I bought it! She went from completely miserable and stressed to her normal happy and affection self INSTANTLY. With the cone, you have to shove their head in there and tie a piece of fabric and your cat is struggling against you. With this product, you have so much room to just place it over your pet’s head and just pull the drawstring to adjust the size. So easy and stress free!If your pet needs something to keep them from licking or scratching, throw the cone away and buy this instead. You absolutely will not regret it!!My cat had surgery on his paw and the cones, regardless of material were disorienting for him. This collar does provide improved ability for him to navigate around, eat and drink. He's worn it for over a month now and it keeps his bandage from being destroyed. However, it should be noted that this collar may not work for pets with incisions towards the rear of their body as he has been able reach these areas. He can also still lick his forearm and paw but that hasn't really mattered. Hr does lick the collar itself so washing is a must. Another small concern is the diameter is regulated by a simple draw string and ball clasp. This isn't foolproof and he has been able to remove the collar occasionally.Overall this has been a tremendously helpful tool in his recovery. The hard, plastic, Elizabethan collar the vet sent her home with was awful. She kept banging into everything, she struggled to reach her food and water bowls comfortably no matter what I did to help, and she could get out of it like a ninja. She hasn't tried to get out of this collar at all in 24 hours, she's moving and eating/drinking comfortably and most importantly, she can't get to her stitches! If your cat has a hind leg injury, this probably won't work, because my cat can get to her rear legs and most of her tail, but she still can't get to her stitches on her bum (anal sac removal), so this collar is a huge improvement in quality of life for my kitty as she heals. Order arrived quickly and the collar looks just like the picture. My cat over licks and fusses on a spot, and we needed a way to stop him from rehung the area, so as to break the habit. He is terrified of the traditional plastic collar, goes crazy if you put one on him.Read the reviews of this kind and give it a go. It is brilliant. He wasn't sure what to do about this new 'thing' around his neck and shoulders, but he didn't freak out! He can still move around and sit comfortable. It is a soft plush fabric that is easy to put on.He is a Ragdoll and we bought the medium. It is a good size for him.My boy has a hot spot on his chest that he refuses to leave alone. We’ve taken him yo the vet and are currently investigating it, but we also have to keep him from licking the spot raw. This works much better than a traditional cone because he still has his peripheral vision and can groom his bum. It only prevents him from grooming his chest, which is great! Have I mentioned that it’s cute also!? Total win for me.I have two cats of opposite sex, 5 months old, went through spaying and neutering. The cone vet gave prevents proper drinking and eating.Followed other comments and ordered medium. They fought at first and were able to fight them off, but we tightened it a bit and it never fell of. They can now eat and drink like normal but not able to lick their surgery site. They are happy (maybe), and we are happy.
